Jackieland is my surreal rejection of our pristine, perfectly designed world of advertising into a fantasy land of lumpy sculptures and surreal stop motion animation.
Two years ago after a particularly long day staring at pixels, I came home from my dull graphic design job and just snapped. I HAD to make something with my actual hands. And I made a hamburger. Out of paper mache. At that point, “Jackieland” was born, a place for me to create bizarre fake advertisements that would never exist and flaunt my delusions of grandeur as the designer. Over the years I have been building this world piece by piece, bringing it to life via stop motion animation and immersive installations.
I live by the words of the great John Waters, “I’d love to sell out completely. It’s just that nobody is willing to buy.”
