My musical training started at the ripe old age of 6. Piano was my first love, but in
the 5th grade I picked up the saxophone and I haven't put it down since. I left college with a degree in music and
an emphasis on jazz.
Moving to Olympia, WA in 1997, I have been teaching privately and leading bands with genres as varied as soul, fusion, rock, country, and jazz. Although saxophone is my primary instrument, I consider myself a multi-instrumentalist; playing and teaching woodwinds as well as bass, drums, keys, and guitar. I'm known locally for organizing band and ensemble projects, which teach teens and adults the skills of composing and arranging music for public performances.
An active performer and music educator in the Olympia/Lacey community, I currently serve as a clinician for several local schools and am a band director and lecturer at Saint Martin's University
I have been featured on several albums, including:
- Kosta Lois' "In Many Ways"
- Scott Askew's "So It Happens"
- Jenny Jenkins's "Oventoucher"
- Jacob Merlin's "Simple Threads".
I keep a busy playing and recording schedule in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia.
I am a regular guest with Seattle's How Now Brown Cow, a member of The Olympia Jazz Senators big band, and play in many other projects in the area.
My own band, The B.S. Experiment, is a band of rotating musicians.
We play my original jazz and funky-soul grooves and
can be found playing in clubs and venues all over the Pacific NW.
